Charleston, W. Va. – Multiple Bears set new personal bests this past weekend at the Golden Eagle Invitational.
On the men's side, David Exum set a personal record in the hammer with a throw of 47.77m. Aaron Watson also set a personal record in the hammer, throwing a 35.85m. Noah Thomas threw a 52.27m, good for second in the hammer finals. Thomas also finished second in the shot put and third in the discus. In the discus, freshman Alex Rogers threw a 36.61m, a new personal best.
The men's team had at least two representatives in each final for the throws and finished third overall.
On the women's side, Gabby Cook and Bethany Tackett set new personal bests in the hammer throw. Valerie Kendrick finished third in the discus with a 38.51m throw. In the 100m hurdles, freshman sprinter Heaven Carver ran a season-best 19.00.
Coach David Espinoza's track and field Bears will be back in action this Friday for the Centre Twilight in Danville, Ky.
