PRESTONSBURG, Ky. – The University of Pikeville men's golf team took home the big hardware in the Alice Lloyd College Men's Fall Invite on Tuesday afternoon, and two of its players battled it out for medalist honors.

The men have now won all three tournaments in which they have competed this season. The ALC tournament was played at the par 72, 6,679-yard StoneCrest Golf Course.

The Bears finished the two-day event as the only team to finish under par, finishing at 14-under. They easily outdistanced second-place West Virginia Tech, which finished at 15-over.

UPike-B finished third in the 10-team field with a solid performance of 28-over par.

"We have a lot of guys playing really solid golf right now and it shows," said Coach
Dustyn Reinstetle. "We're really proud of the team we have this season and hope we can continue representing the university to the best of our ability."

Sophomore
Lawson Hon came away with the singles title, finishing with a two-day score of 6-under par 138 (71-67). Tuesday's 67 enabled him to move past teammate Jon Bryant. The sophomore finished tied for second at 4-under par 140 (69-71).

Meanwhile, graduate student
Blake Maupin was fourth at 3-under par (72-69), while freshman
Kobe Ingram was fifth with a 1-under (74-69) finish.

All four made the all-tournament team.

Graduate student
Broc Crist rounded out the team with a two-day finish of 5-over (75-74), tying for 14
th in the 55-player field.

Pikeville's second entry was led by sophomore
Saul Crist at 5-over (73-76) and junior
Tyler Ford, who was 7-over (74-77).

The Bears are off for two weeks before returning to action in the East Tennessee Collegiate, to be played at the Johnson City Country Club in Johnson City, Tenn., on Sept. 25-26.
