KANSAS CITY, Mo. - University of Pikeville competitive cheer was well represented when officials of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the 2024 Daktronics NAIA Competitive Cheer Scholar-Athletes Thursday afternoon.
To qualify for this recognition, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, must be on the eligibility certificate for their sport, and must have attended their institution for one full year. The 2024 Datronics NAIA Competitive Cheer Scholar-Athletes from the University of Pikeville are Aariana Sparks, Amelia Cure, Aryn Fannin, Chloe Adkins, Elizabeth Day, Jolene Smith, Kayce Campbell, Paige Hoover, Sarah Mattingly, and Savannah Wright. UPIKE was second in the NAIA with ten nominees.
The announcement from the NAIA comes after the Bears wrapped up their 2023-24 season at the Mid-South Conference Championships. UPIKE took fourth place and had five all-conference honorees for their performance.
