PRESTONSBURG, Ky. - University of Pikeville men's golf finished first in the UPIKE Spring Invitational Tuesday.
UPIKE took first place in the tournament after recording a team score of +35 through two rounds. The Bears shot +6 during round two, shaving off 23 strokes from their team score in round one. Finishing in second overall was the UPIKE B team, 16 strokes ahead of Shawnee State.
Leading the Bears was junior Jon Bryant, who finished atop the individual tournament rankings after shooting +1. Bryant birded six times over two rounds, including on holes 13 and 17 of round two. Right behind Bryant was junior Cameron Bregman, who shaved off three strokes from his score in round one and finished +9 for the tournament.
Peyton Compton finished third in the individual rankings. Ryan Marszalek finished tied for fifth place with teammates Saul Crist, Gunner Cassity, and Harley Davidson. UPIKE occupied eight of the top ten individual rankings.
Coach Dustyn Reinstetle's team will be back in action on Sunday in Grayson, Ky., for the KCU Spring Invitational.
