ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. - University of Pikeville men's golf wrapped up the 2024-25 season with a tenth-place finish at the 2025 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Golf Tournament championship Tuesday. The AAC also released its 2024-25 season awards as well.
Tyler Ford had the highest individual finish for the Bears. Ford finished +15 for the tournament and was tied for 20th place. Ford's performance was highlighted by shooting even in round three after struggling in round two.
Saul Crist had the Bears second-best finish coming in tied for 33rd. Crist improved his score during every round, going from +10 in round one, +7 in round two, to finishing round three with a +3.
Cameron Bergman and Harley Davidson finished tied for 42nd and Jon Bryant took 51st to round out the Bears' starting five. As a team, the Bears finished in tenth place out of the fourteen participating AAC squads. The Bears finished strong in round three, shaving off 20 strokes from the team score from round two.
The AAC recognizes and honors student-athletes for their hard work in the classroom as well as the playing field with academic all-conference honors. To qualify for AAC academic all-conference honors, a student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior, senior, fifth-year, or graduate student and must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 or above on a 4.0 scale. The academic all-conference honorees for the 2024-25 UPIKE men's golf team are Gunner Cassity, Peyton Compton, Saul Crist, Ryan Marszalek, Titus McGlone, Tyler Robinson, and Tate Walters.
The AAC also recognizes members of the Champions of Character Team. Student-athletes nominated to the Champions of Character Team are nominated by their coaches for best exhibiting leadership on campus and in the community while demonstrating the five core values embraced by the NAIA. Those values are respect, integrity, responsibility, servant leadership, and sportsmanship. Representing UPIKE on the 2024-25 AAC men's golf Champions of Character Team is Peyton Compton.
