LAS VEGAS – The Intercollegiate Team Championships wrapped up with the championship rounds on Saturday, and when it ended, more honors came for two UPike bowlers.
Â
Graduate students
Bryce Oliver and
Kristina Catoe were selected to their respective five-player all-tournament teams.
Â
"Both Kristina and Bryce were deserving of making the all-tournament teams," said Coach
Andrew Dekowski. "It's a perfect way to put a bow on their remarkable careers as college bowlers.
Â
"They have represented us with class and dignity since the day they came to campus. We couldn't ask for better representation of our program, our school or our community. I couldn't be happier for them."
Â
Catoe, a native of Mooresville, N.C., was selected to the all-tournament team for the second time in her career. Catoe helped her team to a fifth-place finish, bowling the anchor leg for all 24 Baker games in qualifying and all five rounds of match play.
Â
Catoe was selected as an honorable mention All-American by the National College Bowling Coaches Association (NCBCA) and the International Bowling Media Association (IBMA). In March, she was named an NAIA first-team All-America for the fifth time.
Â
In match play at last week's ITCs, Catoe had 31 strikes in her five matches, during which she bowled two frames per game in the Baker format.
Â
Oliver is from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He was named first-team All-America by the NCBCA and, under a different voting format, an honorable-mention All-America by the IBMA.
Â
In March, he was honored as the NAIA Bowler of the Year and was named an All-American for the third time in his career.
Â
In four rounds of match play, Oliver rolled 32 strikes in the ITCs last week, helping his team to a seventh-place finish in the national tournament.
