Brinton honored by AAC, this time as top setter

WALESKA, Ga. – Last week's volleyball defender of the week in the AAC is this week's setter of the week.

Chloie Brinton, a 5-8 junior from Lindon, Utah, was selected for the honor in a vote of sports information directors at conference schools.

Brinton averaged 10.91 assists per set in three matches last week.

On Tuesday night, Brinton had 52 sets in a five-game meeting with Lindsey Wilson, the top team receiving votes but not in the NAIA Top 25. That is the second highest total in a single match in school history.

In Saturday's tri-match at Kentucky Christian University, Brinton had 33 assists in three sets against Shawnee State (Ohio) University and then posted 35 in three sets against KCU.

For the week, Brinton posted 120 assists in three contests.

Brinton leads the AAC in total assists this season with 357 through 11 games. Her average of 8.11 is second in the league.

Last week, Brinton was selected the top defender in the AAC. She had 22 digs in a four-set match against the University of Rio Grande, in the only contest of the week for the Bears.

UPike will begin play in the AAC on Friday when it visits Tennessee Wesleyan University on Friday night. The Bears will then play at Bryan (Tenn.) College on Saturday morning.
