CORBIN, Ky. – A duo from Utah have been named players of the week by the AAC at their respective positions in volleyball.
 
Allyah Tokelau is the attacker of the week, while Chloie Brinton has repeated as setter of the week.
 
These honors come after the Bears went 2-1 last week playing in the AMF Memorial tournament, held in Upland, Ind., and hosted by Taylor University.
 
Tokelau is a 5-9 senior from Lehi, Utah. In three matches last week, she had 37 kills, averaging 3.36 kills per set.
 
In addition, she had five blocks, five digs and an assist.
 
The highlight of the week came on Friday in a 3-1 win over Huntington (Ind.) University. In it, she had 17 kills and a .484 attack percentage. She opened the week with 11 kills against Indiana-Southeast and closed it with nine again Taylor.
 
For the season, she has 95 kills, which is second on the team.
 
Brinton is a 5-8 senior from Lindon, Utah, who was named setter of the week for the second straight week and the seventh time in her career.
 
This week, she had 123 assists in three matches, averaging 11.18 assists per match. In addition, she had five kills and five service aces. She also stood out on the defensive side, recording 47 digs and three blocks.
 
Brinton is averaging 10.88 assists per set, giving her a lead of 2.11 assists over the next highest setter in the league. She also has 49 assists more than the player in second place in the league.
 
She has 359 assists on the season, and her 10.88 assists per set is third in the country.
 
In 149 sets over the last two seasons as a Bear, she has a total of 1,465 assists.
 
UPike is 6-3 on the season and returns home on Wednesday to start a three-match homestand, all this week, against NCAA Div. II Concord (W.Va.) University. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the UPike Gym.
