Marion, Ind. – UPIKE track and field standout Noah Thomas competed for the final time in his UPIKE career at the 2023 NAIA Track and Field Nationals hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University on Wednesday morning. Thomas was also recognized for receiving all-region honors.
Noah Thomas competed against the best hammer throwers in the NAIA. The junior from Ashland, Ky. threw in the first flight and recorded a 51.99m. Thomas's score landed him in seventh place of 12 in his flight, but was not enough to make the hammer finals, however.
NAIA track and field also honored their 2023 Champions of Character along with the 2023 USTFCCCA Outdoor Track and Field regional Athletes of the Year. Thomas, who was named Great Lakes Field Athlete of the Year last Friday, was recognized for receiving this great award.
"What an amazing career Noah had with the University of Pikeville. Although it is not a result we wanted, he has elevated the track and field program here at UPIKE and thank Noah for always representing UPIKE at the national level. He will be missed," said Head Coach
David Espinoza when asked about Noah's performance and career at UPIKE.
