BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Six members of the University of Pikeville men's and women's track and field teams competed at the IU Early Bird Invitational hosted by Indiana University Friday.
Freshman Joshua Martinez broke the school record and set a new personal best in the 800m with a time of 1:57.99. Martinez's time placed him fifth in the event.
Carlie Osborne competed in the women's 200m dash and the 400m dash. Osborne ran 27.28 and finished 25th in the 200 and 1:01.45 and finished 20th in the 400.
Zach Mason set a new personal best in the high jump. Mason recorded a 1.90m leap and finished eighth in the event.
In the triple jump, freshman Alex Harris competed and recorded a 13.00m jump. Mason also competed in the triple jump event but did not record a score.
Three Bears competed in the men's weight throw. They were Zeke Hagley, Alex Rogers, and Aaron Coffey. Hagley threw a 15.50m and came in ninth; Rogers threw a 14.72m and came in 11th, and Aaron Coffey threw a 13.52m and came in 13th place.
Next up for the track and field Bears is a trip to Huntington, W.Va., for the Marshall Alumni Classic hosted by Marshall University on Saturday, January 10th.
