WALESKA, Ga. - University of Pikeville women's golf sophomore Tayla Howroyd is this week's Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) women's golfer of the week, AAC officials announced Monday afternoon.  

The announcement comes after Howroyd finished first at last week's Klash in KY tournament. After shooting an 80 in round one, Howroyd shaved off six strokes and rose eight spots in the individual rankings after shooting a 74 in round two for a 154 total.  

Howroyd's performance helped propel the Bears to a first-place finish in the Klash in KY tournament. It is Howroyd's first AAC women's golfer of the week honor.  

UPIKE will be back in action Tuesday in Johnson City, Tenn., for the Northeast Tennessee Spring Shootout.
