JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The University of Pikeville women's golf team came in third place and an individual came away champion in the Northeast Tennessee Spring Shootout on Tuesday.

Homestanding Milligan University came away the winner of the six-team event with a two-day score of 627. Midway was second with the Bears coming in third.

UPike shot scores of 326-324 for a two-day total of 650.

Junior
Carly Crooks was the individual medalist, shooting 78-76 and winning a playoff with Midway's Maryssa Phillips, both of whom finished at 154.

This was the Toronto native's first win of the season. She has finished no lower than eighth in any of UPike's tournaments this academic year.

She was joined on the all-tournament team by her sister,
Renee Crooks, who finished two strokes behind in fourth place with a two-day score of 156.

Tayla Howroyd finished 15
th with a score of 166. Junior
Lauren Holmes fired a 174 to finish 19
th, while freshman
Laney Sorrell followed in 20
th with a score of 178.

The Bears will wrap up regular-season competition in the Music City Classic at Old Hickory, Tenn., on April 7-8.

The AAC Conference Championships will follow, being held at Acworth, Ga. at the Governor's Town Club April 14-15.
