Women's Golf ranked 21st in NAIA poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Pikeville women's golf team will enter the postseason ranked 21st by the coaches of the NAIA.

The organization released its most recent ratings this week. The poll was taken before the Bears finished tied for eighth in the Music City Classic, which featured 14 of the Top 30 teams in the nation, but was released afterward.

British Columbia was atop the rankings again, getting 14 of the 17 first-place votes. Keiser, which won the Music City event, was second with the other three top nods. SCAD Savannah and Dalton State both stayed third and fourth respectively, with Texas Wesleyan moving up two spots to fifth.

SCAD Atlanta was the top ranked AAC team in the poll, remaining ninth. Truett McConnell is up four spots to 11th, followed by Milligan, which is tied for 13th.

In the Music City event, the Bears finished tied with or ahead of Southeastern (Fla.) and Milligan, and all seven teams ahead of it are in the top 16 in the country.

As postseason play begins, the Bears would be considered "on the bubble" for the national tournament, which is May 13-16 in Ypsilanti, Mich., at Eagle Crest Golf Club.

UPike will return to action on April 14-15 in the AAC Conference Championships. The event is held at Governor's Town Club in Acworth, Ga.
