Box Score Four Bears had double figure kills as the University of Pikeville knocked off NCAA Div. II Concord (W.Va.) University 3-1 on Wednesday night at the UPike Gym.
 
The Bears improved to 7-3 on the season, while the Mountain Lions are now 3-6.
 
Junior Cassidy Rivas led the way with 15 kills. AAC attacker of the week Allyah Tokelau followed with 12, with senior Lanie Hawley and junior Olivia Chapman recording 11 each.
 
Back-to-back setter of the week Chloie Brinton finished with 39 assists. The Bears had seven service aces, with junior Lyla Reed recording three of them.
 
Defensively, four Bears were in double figures in digs. Brinton again led the way with 22, while freshman Baylee Moore recorded 20. Junior Lyla Reed finished with 18 while senior Lillian Carpenter added 12.
 
Chapman was in on six blocks, with five of them assists.
 
The Bears will begin play in the AAC on Friday night when they host the Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan University. Action will begin in the UPike Gym at 6:30 p.m.
 
Bears 32, Mountain Lions 30: The first set was played so closely that the biggest lead both teams had was only three points. Tokelau led the Bears with six kills while senior Lanie Hawley followed with five. Tokelau broke the tie with a kill to make it 31-30 and then found junior Olivia Chapman for the winner. Brinton had 11 assists.
 
Bears 25, Mountain Lions 19: After limited separation in the first set, UPike jumped out to a lead that grew to as big as 13 points on two occasions, including at 20-7 after a Chapman kill. A Hawley kill ended a Concord rally, putting the Bears one set away from a win.
 
Mountain Lions 25, Bears 23: Concord led by as many as five twice, including at 13-8 and by four as late as 15-11 before the Bears rallied to tie the score at 17 on a kill by junior Cassidy Rivas. A service ace by Lyla Reed, her third of the night, put UPike on top 19-17. The score was tied at 20 , 21 and 23, but the Lions scored the last three points to extend the match.
 
Bears 25, Mountain Lions 18: UPike broke a 3-3 tie by scoring 10 of the next 11 points to give it some separation and a 13-4 lead. But the Mountain Lions went on an 11-2 run to even the score at 15. From there, the Bears had four different players with kills as part of an 8-2 run to build a 23-17 lead. A Rivas kill and serve leading to an attack error closed it out.
